Want to support WOOF but don't want to work a dog? There are ways you can join the team and provide valuable assistance to the unit without being a handler. We welcome folks that want to help with the team, in ways that don't involve training and working one's own dog: Support and Flanker.
Want more information on how to become a valued Support or Flanker volunteer? Contact us through the website.
Support volunteers help us by hiding for dogs, organizing aspects of training, fundraising, anything that helps us accomplish our goals.
This level of participation is driven by the volunteer and his or her schedule. Support persons can attend trainings but do not participate in searches.
Flankers are essentially handlers, but without a dog.
Flankers provide support to certified handlers on searches and have the skills and knowledge needed to search as part of a WOOF team in the field.
This level of participation has attendance, physical fitness, and gear and skills requirements.
